Ag Mechanics Pit Challenge

The BBQ Pit challenge is open to all Humble ISD FFA Chapters and the Humble ISD Welding Class. Each year these respective schools enter their nominations for the BBQ Pit Challenge by November 15th and the pit building begins. Each school must keep track of all receipts for a bill of materials, along with dimensions and blueprints, and all of these items must be assembled in a record book for viewing by the Judges and Spectators. Once a Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Pit is chosen, those two pits along with two other pits will be auctioned off at 4:30 p.m. on February 1, 2020, during the awards ceremony of the BBQ Cook Off contest. The money from these pits is then placed back into each school's Ag. Mechanics accounts to fund their respective programs for the next year. This year, as well as the past two years, the pipe for these pits was generously donated by Michael Simpson, Tarkington, Texas.
