BBQ COOK-OFF - Competitors’ Guide: JAN. 30 & 31, 2026

Welcome, Pitmasters & Competitors!

Get ready to fire up your pits, compete for top prizes, and show off your skills in a variety of challenges, from the main BBQ Cook-Off to the Margarita Contest, Bloody Mary Contest, Kids Cook Competition, and the Pit Challenge. This event is CBA sanctioned and offers something for every type of competitor!

NEW RULES ADDED FOR 2026

PLEASE READ PRIOR TO REGISTRATION: Humble BBQ Cook-Off 2026 - Security Policy Updates

Guest Registration & Security Requirements

At the time of registration, each cook team must disclose their expected guest count. Guest numbers must fall within one of the following categories:

• 1–25 guests
• 26–100 guests
• 101–200 guests
• 201+ guests

Disclaimer: Each tent will be inspected by the fire marshal upon setup, with occupancy established in accordance with current city, county, state, and national laws.

Privately Hired Uniformed Officer Requirements:

• 1–25 guests: None required
• 26–100 guests: 1 officer required
• 101–200 guests: 2 officers required
• 201+ guests: 3 officers required

Tent Occupancy Control - Serving Alcohol to Guests

• Each tent is required to maintain the occupancy number provided by the cook team during registration.
• If that occupancy exceeds the stated number, the Rodeo Safety & Security Team will notify the cook team and require immediate compliance.
• Failure to comply, or resistance to direction, will result in notification to the Humble Fire Marshal’s Office and or Cook Off Hired Law Enforcement.

Team-Hired Officer Responsibilities

• Must be present in their assigned tent before public gates open.
• Must remain in their assigned tent until the tent is cleared at the end of the night.
• Must assist in clearing their assigned tent when official Cook-Off LEOs begin the exit push.
• Are responsible for maintaining order and civility inside their tent.
• If an altercation exceeds their ability to control, they may request assistance from official Cook-Off LEOs.

Reporting Requirement: Any altercations requiring law enforcement intervention must be reported immediately to Josh Burk.

Agreement: This policy will require acknowledgment and signature from each Cook-Off Team Representative prior to the event.

Registration for 2026 Humble BBQ Cook-Off

  • Below is the where the online registration link, that will go live on October 1st by 9:00 AM, will be located. During the online registration you must make payment in full for your items purchased. Please note you CAN NOT purchase any items after registration, everything must be done at time of registration.
  • Below you will find the link to the Rules, Acknowledgement Form, Security Policy in place for 2026 and Release of Liability Form. You are responsible to print, sign and return the Rules Acknowledgement Form and Release of Liability Form. Please return to humblebbqcookoff@humblerodeo.com.

Your spot in the Humble BBQ Cook-Off will NOT be reserved until:

  1. Payment is made online.
  2. We have received your Acknowledgment Form of Rules and Release of Liability Forms signed.
  3. We have received your New Security Policy Acknowledgement Form.
There are no exceptions to this. All forms are found below.

DRINK CONTEST

Check out the drink contest below. You must register for these at time of online registration.

PARKING

No Public Parking On-Site

Only vehicles with an official cooker parking pass will be allowed in the designated cooker parking area behind the arena. All others will be towed.

Each cook team will receive one parking pass to access the back lot. Please note: there is no parking allowed in the front lots, and any vehicle parked in the back lot without a valid pass will be towed at the owner’s expense.
